This summer, the YMCA is expanding its HEAT (Helping Eager Athletes Train) program with a more advanced Summer Athlete Development Program aimed at 12 to 15 year olds.
This program presents tremendous opportunities for both off-season training and in-season conditioning for all sports. It is designed for the serious youth athlete interested in developing their physical potential and athletic performance through various training programs and activities.
The program will be based at the Archie Dillion Sportsplex, a YMCA Partnership Project with the City of Timmins, but will use surrouding local areas to diversify training programs.
Training with this program will more closely resemble sporting demands by incorportating lifts, speed, agility, quickness and balance drills, along with sport energy system and strength development.
Athletes will be segmented by age, as well as skill and ability, to ensure safety and specialized instruction that is adapted to their individual physical development, sport demands and training background.
Participants will be required to fill in an Athlete Registration Form.
