In May 2012, national YMCA delegates converged on Toronto for the 100th annual meeting of YMCA Canada. It culminated in delegates and the national council approving Plan Y unanimously and setting our federation on a new path.
Since our National Conference in Winnipeg in 2009, “Portage”, Y Canada has been seeking feedback and input on how YMCAs across our land might work effectively in support of the health of Canadians. Local, regional and national input of individuals, groups, leaders and youth throughout our movement helped craft this direction.
The Plan outlines the Federation’s collective commitment to 4 themes:
Building our Brand – to revitalize our logo and image and reframe the way member associations use our identity.
Extending our Reach – YMCA’s will be challenged to continue to serve more communities in Canda and abroad.
Strengthening our Impact – we will continue to build and share knowledge in order to align associaitions in a greater way.
Increase our Capacity – to empasize a collective culture, and develop leaders of tomorrow.
Our task now is to find ways for the Timmins YMCA to align our stategies and grow with the Federation and the City of Timmins.
